Smart Scales limitations and intended use

Sparkery products are designed to help you better understand your health and wellbeing. They are not medical devices and are not intended to diagnose, treat, monitor or prevent any medical condition.

All measurements and insights provided by Sparkery are intended for general wellbeing and reference purposes only and should not be relied upon as medical advice or a substitute for professional healthcare.

Using your Sparkery Smart Scales

For the most consistent and accurate measurements, we recommend weighing yourself:

  • At the same time each day
  • Under similar conditions each time
  • Barefoot, with your feet positioned naturally on the scale
  • Standing upright and as still as possible
  • Wearing minimal clothing where practical

For best results, avoid measuring:

  • Immediately after strenuous exercise
  • Straight after eating or drinking
  • After a bath, shower or sauna
  • After consuming large amounts of water or alcohol
  • During periods of illness

Body composition measurements can naturally fluctuate throughout the day, so measuring under consistent conditions will give you the most meaningful trends over time.

Who should not use the body composition function?

The body composition feature uses a very small electrical current to estimate body composition.

Do not use the body composition function if you:

  • Are pregnant
  • Have a pacemaker or other implanted electronic medical device
  • Use an artificial lung or other life-supporting electronic medical equipment
  • Wear a medical electrocardiograph or similar medical monitoring device

Using the body composition function in these circumstances may interfere with the operation of medical devices.

If you have any concerns about whether the scales are suitable for you, please consult your healthcare professional before use.

Reference measurements

Body composition estimates may be less accurate and should be treated as reference information only for:

  • Children and young people under 18 years of age
  • Adults aged over 80 years
  • People receiving dialysis
  • People experiencing significant swelling (oedema)

As with all consumer body composition scales, readings are estimates and are most useful for tracking changes over time rather than focusing on individual measurements.
